Period Soldbücher from the mid to late war years including examples featured on this site clearly document that the Gasplane continued to be issued to the troops well beyond that date. Furthermore, contemporary photographs taken from 1942 through to the end of the war show soldiers actively carrying the Gasplane in the field, confirming that it remained part of standard kit throughout the conflict. While no source for this myth has been identified, the documentary and photographic record speaks for itself.
